The Go Green Upgrade is a required action for Datacard® SP, CP and FP Series Card Printers. 11/30/2011
With only a few months remaining in 2011, the time to Go Green is now. The firmware of your Datacard® SP, CP and FP Series printers must be updated before the end of the year to make them compatible with the new RFID chips embedded in Datacard® Certified Supplies. If the printer is one of the following models WITH a firmware version below 20.0, it will need a firmware update:
Once your Datacard printer has been updated, it can use either old or new supplies, so you can deplete your existing supplies inventory first. Add Comment KODAK Picture Saver Scanning System 09/22/2011

Datacard SD260 ID Card Printer 08/10/2011
ENERGY STAR qualified, biodegradable supply cores and recyclable packaging make the new Datacard SD260 card printer the industry's first desktop printer with environmentally focused features, according to Datacard Group, the world leader in secure ID and card personalization systems. The SD260 printer's ENERGY STAR qualification makes it the first of its kind. The SD260 printer earned its ENERGY STAR qualification by requiring less energy than its predecessors and saving users money from reduced energy costs. Key environmental features include: Bio-Tec Environmental EcoPurechemical additive biodegradable supply cores that gradually break down in landfills, recyclable packaging to reduce waste and a soft-touch power-down button allowing users to increase energy efficiency. The SD260 printer helps support and sustain the environmental initiatives of Datacard printer users. The SD260 printer also complies with Reduction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) and Waste Electrical Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directive requirements. RoHS compliance indicates that the SD260 printer upholds international regulations defined by the European Union, including manufacturing restrictions on hazardous chemicals and proper methods of recovery, treatment and recycling. The WEEE directive ensures responsible measures in setting collection, recycling and recovery methods. "Customers can confidently choose the SD260 printer to meet all of their requirements, including those related to helping the environment," said Kathleen Phillips, head of desktop personalization systems for Datacard Group. "The SD260 printer is the first in the industry to be created with the environment in mind." In addition, Datacard Group will donate a portion of the proceeds from every SD260 printer sold from now until the end of November, 2010 to the Rainforest Alliance. The Alliance works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices and consumer behavior. The new SD260 card printer will be on display in booth 1133, at the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) tradeshow, October 12-14 in Dallas, Texas. Primera's DPPro, the world's best-selling two-drive, 100-disc capacity disc publisher, has now become the DPPro Xi-Series. This re-designed and re-engineered range of disc publishers is faster, more efficient and even more reliable than ever before. It's the perfect choice for producing quantities of professional-quality burned and printed discs – automatically and hands-free. Three DPPro Xi models are available:
Blazingly Fast The main goal for the new DPPro Xi-Series was to maximize throughput. All parts of the process were carefully analyzed, including robotics, disc picking and software. All have now been optimized for the fastest possible production speeds. The most significant change has been to the disc transport robotics. Instead of a lead screw, the robotic arm is belt-driven by a microprocessor-controlled stepper motor. Belt drives are capable of much faster throughput – in this case, about 300% faster! Precise Disc Picking Primera's AccuDisc™ picking technology has always been the best in the business. It uses patented, precision mechanics and software to know that it has picked just one disc at a time. This prevents misfeeds and double discs which can not only interrupt operation but can even damage recording drives. Now in its seventh generation, AccuDisc has been further optimized for speed. As a result, disc picking is up to 200% faster than before. Professional-Grade Printing The built-in, high-resolution inkjet printing is powered by Lexmark®, a world leader in printing technology. With up to 4800 dpi quality, it has the highest printing resolution available from any manufacturer of disc publishers – in fact, almost four times higher print resolution than a leading competitor. Combine this ultra high resolution printing with Primera's TuffCoat with WaterShield™ CDs and DVDs and you'll get the most professional looking discs, too. TuffCoat with WaterShield discs are highly water-, scratch- and smudge-resistant. They also have a gorgeous, high-gloss finish unlike anything you've probably ever seen before. Of course, virtually all other brands of inkjet-printable optical media are also supported. Getting the Discs Out In some applications such as medical imaging and video/audio-on-demand it is imperative that discs can be dispensed out the front of the unit. On DPPro Xi-Series, it's an automatic, built-in feature. On some competitive units you have to manually open a door or a drawer every time – a huge inconvenience if you're doing it all day long. DPPro Xi-Series also has two software-selectable input bins. This means you can put 50 CDs on the left and 50 DVDs on the right. Or put 50 DVDs on the left and 50 BD-Rs on the right. Whatever combination works for you, you'll save the time and trouble of switching out media when a different type is required for a particular job. Powerful Software that's Easy to Use Using the DiscPublisher Xi-Series is as easy as printing to any office printer. Primera's exclusive PTPublisher™ Software, written by our own software engineers, has won critical acclaim for its simple, wizard-style interface. Training new operators takes just minutes instead of hours. Simply choose the type of job you want to perform (data, video, audio, etc.), match with a print file, and press "GO." It's that easy! Built-in disc design software called SureThing™ Primera Edition (Windows) or DiscCover™ (Mac) lets you place photos, backgrounds, text and graphics anywhere on the disc, including as far into the middle of the disc as you wish – a major limitation with other brands of disc publishers. Extra Value You get more for your money with DPPro Xi-Series. In addition to the included PTPublisher software for disc burning and printing, you also get these valuable extra built-in software features: PTRip™: lets you robotically RIP your personal music CDs and load them into Apple® iTunes® for iPhone®, iPod® and iPod Touch® or Microsoft® Media Player. PTBackUp™: automatic, scheduled back-ups of your files to CDs, DVDs or optional 25GB and 50GB Blu-ray Discs. Archival-grade TuffCoat branded optical media is available from Primera. PTProtect™: With a single mouse click, you can prevent unauthorized duplication of your valuable DVD video files. Three free protections are included; additional protections are available at a reasonable per-disc price. Other Primera-exclusive software features, including the first-ever iPhone application for disc publishers, are currently under development. Software updates are made available to registered users at no extra charge. The Most Illuminating Feature Also new to DPPro Xi-Series is built-in blue LED lighting. The soft blue glow not only helps you see what's going on inside, but pulses when supplies are getting low and blinks on/off if an error condition is reported. You'll always know the status of your jobs whether you're sitting next to the unit or standing on the other side of the room. Integration Made Easy Sometimes integration is required for applications like PACS/DICOM medical imaging systems, law enforcement and surveillance video, back up and archival, video and audio on-demand and more. Primera makes integration easy with its Software Developer's Kit (SDK) for both Windows and Mac. The SDK is free to qualified developers. We're proud to be the only company in our industry that actively supports 3rd-party developers on Windows, Mac and even Linux. Simply the Best With their fast throughput, superior print quality, valuable extra software features, affordable price and per-disc costs, Windows and Mac compatibility, SDK's and more, Primera's DPPro Xi-Series Disc Publishers are simply the best mid-sized disc publishers you can buy. You can feel confident buying a Primera product. Over the past ten years we've built more disc publishers than all of our competitors combined. We take pride in providing the best products and the best after-sales support available. Epson GT-S50 Document Scanner 04/14/2011

Canon imageFORMULA DR-X10C 03/31/2011
If you’re serious about scanning, the DR-X10C is an outstanding mid-volume production A3 document scanner that delivers high-end performance and reliability. Features
High productivity Whatever you need to scan, the DR-X10C is designed to process your work with maximum efficiency. That means the DR-X10C is an A3 scanner capable of handling 100 pages per minute – whether scanning in black & white, greyscale or colour formats. In addition, there’s no reduction in speed between 200 dpi and 300 dpi resolution, and when scanning in landscape orientation you get further incredible speeds of 128 pages per minute (A4). Improve overall processing speeds further - with features such as auto colour detection, text orientation recognition and skip blank page. Image conscious When the quality of the image is paramount, the DR-X10C comes into its own, with an optical resolution of 600dpi and with numerous image enhancement capabilities. Features such as Text Enhancement, Prevent Bleed Through, Moiré Removal and Colour Drop Out all ensure heightened legibility of your scanned documents. To avoid dust accumulation and image deterioration, the DR-X10C uses dedicated blowers and a special wiper blade to clean the image glass after each document scanned. This dust free scanning system maintains superior image quality, reduces the amount of time lost for cleaning and improves overall productivity. The DR-X10C is also fitted with a dedicated sensor for accurate page size detection and deskew correction. Renowned reliability Active Separation Torque Control enables a wide range of media to be fed and separated reliably, as the torque on the separator roller can be electronically adjusted for the best levels of document separation, even for your delicate thin documents. Three independently controlled ultrasonic sensors provide accurate double feed detection minimising risks of data loss, and with the innovative “double feed” retry system, documents are re-fed automatically without any operator intervention required. Incorporating a host of new technology the compact and dependable DR-4010C delivers superb image quality with class-leading colour scanning speeds. Features
The Canon DR-4010C is a next generation departmental scanner that’s small in size but big on performance. Incorporating a host of new technology it delivers superb image quality and class-leading colour scanning speeds, and is ideal for individuals and departments that need dependable performance, and ease-of-use, in one compact package. Compact, high speed scanning A footprint measuring just 318mm x 278mm x 187mm ensures the DR-4010C is not only an incredibly compact departmental scanner – it’s one of the smallest in its class. The DR-4010C handles all your scanning needs at identical high-speeds thanks to a 3-line CMOS sensor. Colour, black and white, and greyscale images are scanned at a swift 42 images per minute, and 84 images per minute using duplex mode. An auto colour detection function is incorporated, which detects which pages are in colour and which are in black-and-white and scans them accordingly. Documents with a combination of both therefore, can be instantly scanned in one complete batch – without needing to separate the pages first. Superb image quality The DR-4010C features a new shading mechanism, which ensures that – unlike some systems – paper dust cannot be accidentally adhered to the shading plate. So there are no unwelcome black lines on the images and no need for periodic cleaning of the shading plate to maintain quality. The 3-line CMOS sensor also ensures precise images with no colour staining. Easy-to-use An on-screen scan panel and easily selectable job buttons make all scanning jobs effortless. The DR-4010C also incorporates a useful facility which allows you to scan long documents, up to 1000mm in length. Two paper paths, either straight or U-turn, provide maximum scanning flexibility. Using the straight paper path and a secondary document eject tray means that media - such as plastic cards - up to an impressive 546g/m2 can be scanned. Extra power A number of easily-selectable modes allow you to enhance the scanned legibility of harder-to-read documents, using Canon’s advanced text enhancement capabilities. Documents with patterned backgrounds, light text on light backgrounds, and halftone backgrounds, can all be captured and improved. Similarly, on thin paper a function can be selected to prevent bleed through occurring on the scanned image. Canon’s CapturePerfect and Adobe Acrobat 7 Std are also included for added power. Canon CR-180II 03/21/2011
Features
High-Speed Cheque Scanning With a duplex scanning speed of 180 cheques per minute (American cheque format), the Canon CR-180II is up to twice as fast as other compact cheque scanners. You can choose from among six types of black/white and greyscale scanning modes, and five levels of scan resolution (up to 240 x 240dpi). When you're ready to start scanning, load up to 200 cheques on the feed tray at once. Precise MICR Reading The CR-180II reads the MICR line with a high precision Canon magnetic reader, and can also read this data simultaneously with OCR software. In addition, the Scanning Utility software lets you save MICR data in different ways: as the file name of an image, in a TIFF file tag, or in a log file for reference. Advanced Image Processing Sophisticated image processing features come into play whenever you need them, allowing the CR-180II to deal with all manner of cheque types. Features such as Black Border Removal, Deskew, Advanced Text Enhancement and Adaptive Threshold mean that cheques with coloured and illustrative features – as well as hard to decipher writing – can be manipulated so that the resulting scanned image is significantly improved. This ensures that all valuable cheque data is retained. Smooth Document Feeding Reliable feeding is absolutely crucial to efficient job completion. And that's where Canon expertise with document scanners makes a difference. The CR-180II allows you to adjust the feed mechanism to match the thickness of your documents, which ensures that each document moves smoothly into the scanner. Duplicate forms can be fed as well, by turning off the paper separation mechanism. Double Feed Detection If two cheques get pulled into the scanner at the same time, you'll be warned right away. The CR-180II can be set to detect double feeds either by the thickness or length of your documents. Bundled Software The Canon Scanning Utility application software offers scanning, file saving, image viewing, printing and various other functions. The CR-180II comes bundled with a standard ISIS/TWAIN driver and a driver based on the renowned Silver Bullet Technology’s Ranger™ Transport API software, which means it can work seamlessly with all the leading cheque processing software. A Software Development Kit (SDK) is also incorporated to ensure integration into any workflow is completely seamless. Profile Tata Motors (formerly known as Tata Electronic and Locomotive Company – TELCO) is part of India’s largest business house, The Tatas. Tata Motors is of the first Indian automotive companies to manufacture an indigenously designed truck, and later passenger car, without any foreign collaboration. Situation Following the introduction of its first Indian-designed passenger car in 2000, Tata Motors Passenger Car Business Unit evolved into India’s largest automobile company with revenues of $7.2 billion USD in 2006-2007. As the company grew, it began to experience challenges related to the dispatch of parts from its spare parts warehouse to regional warehouses and business partners. For example, the cost of inventory was skyrocketing and shipments were being delayed due to slow processing. Additionally, Tata Motors began to discover the proliferation of counterfeit parts in the marketplace. With multiple locations, and an SAP software solution already in place, Tata Motors needed a bar coding solution that would integrate well with SAP to solve its immediate problems, and scale for future company growth. Goals - To improve inventory control in order to curb skyrocketing costs - To streamline business processes in order to speed the shipment of spare parts - To remain competitive by preventing the proliferation of counterfeit parts Results The Printronix team worked with Tata Motors to create a bar coding print solution that would solve these immediate needs. Because other divisions of Tata Motors were using a competitive print solution, Printronix suggested a larger printer than was needed for the job, in order to increase the label throughput. Leveraging the Printronix T4M and T5206r, the Printronix team helped Tata Motors design labels that would seamlessly integrate with the company’s existing SAP databases. Once the issue of increased label production was addressed, the team suggested a modified version of the T5000r four-inch bar code printer, the T4M, to produce smaller labels. Using the Printronix T4M and T5206r, Tata Motors Passenger Car Business Unit has increased the speed at which it is filling spare part orders for regional warehouses and its business partners. |
